Marcie Turney is and always was the chef at Barbuzzo. George worked under her. At Stateside he is THE head chef. The only head chef. George is loved by his staff and it’s doubtful that they will stay when he leaves. And even if they stay, he may have “taught” them how to execute the current menu, but there is no way it can change, evolve and grow without him behind the wheel.

Barbuzzo has stayed the same without him. He has unquestionable talent, but to say a popular restaurant will now fail is completely off-base. All the people he taught are still there.

So the “Best Restaurant” in Philadelphia is loosing the one thing that makes it good. Stateside will be nothing without George. I bet Philly Mag wishes they could take that one back.
