100 Tickets Avaialble To Vetri Great Chefs After-party

Posted by Jason Sheehan on April 12th, 2013

Okay, so this one doesn’t really take any selling. You all know about Marc Vetri’s Great Chefs event, right? It is, hands down, one of the greatest Philly food events of the year. As a matter of fact, it’s one of the country’s greatest food events because, see, Vetri knows a lot of people from everywhere, and a lot of those people from everywhere descend on Philly for this one event.

Anyway, the one party that might be better than the Great Chefs party is the Great Chefs after-party–which, until this year, has been a completely private event, open only to those chefs who cooked for the public, some of the big-time sponsors and friends of Marc Vetri. It’s basically the place where all the white jackets go to hang out, relax and get weird after the big night is done.

But this year, there are 100 tickets to the after-party being sold to members of the public. $525 gets you through the door (and also includes general admission to the Great Chefs Event proper) to hang out with all the celebrity chefs. The party will be at Alla Spina, will run from 9:30pm to 2am, and will feature food (yes, more food) and booze (yes, more booze) from Adam Perry Lang, Alla Spina, Brooklyn Brewery, Little Baby’s Ice Cream, Mac Truck NYC, Route 6 and Victory Brewery.

Check out the official announcement (and ticket-getting details) after the jump.

Monk’s Cafe Is Celebrating Zwanze Day

Posted by Foobooz on November 30th, 2012

Monk’s Cafe is celebrating Zwanze Day. And what is Zwanze Day you may ask? Well it’s the celebration of a rare beer from the Cantillon brewery in Brussels, Belgium. To be exact, it is a rhubarb lambic. And tomorrow, December 1st, Monk’s is tapping just one of very few bars in the country pouring the beer. Pours are $10 a glass and 100% of the money goes to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Philadelphia’s premiere Belgian bar is also tapping Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek ($10) and Grand Cru Classic ($5). The proceeds of both of these beers are also being donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Lemon Society Speakeasy: Drinking For A Good Cause

Posted by Tara Nurin on April 18th, 2012

Forgive us for stating the outrageously obvious, but once in a while some news comes across our desk to remind us of the head-shaking magnitude of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand organization, and we’re left in awe that one young child could spawn such an operation.

This week, the Lemon Society Speakeasy is just that news. The “speakeasy,” being held Friday night, is the inaugural event for the Lemon Society of Philadelphia, the new young professionals arm of the charity. The impressive part isn’t that some of the city’s best-known bartenders are participating (Phoebe Esmon, Colin Shearn, Christian Gaal, and Mike Goodrell from SRO). No, the part that gives us pause is that Alex’s now boasts a young professionals group, just like a major cultural institution or an industry association.
