Audrey Taichman’s Twenty Manning Grill may have only received one bell but the Inquirer has nice things to say about the crab-and-apple terrine at her BYOB, Audrey Claire.

Audrey Taichman is looking to open a second branch of her Audrey Claire at the corner of 13th and Sansom. Next door Marcie Turney and Valeri Safran are looking to expand their 13th Street empire with Verde, a flower and chocolate shop where Robins Books used to be. Also in the works is another restaurant next door at 110 S 13th Street. This spot will be Mediterranean and will feature a wood burning stove as well as the couple’s first liquor license.
What makes this all the more fun is that Turney used to work for Taichman at the original Audrey Claire.

Late this summer look for watermelon on local menus.
At Audrey Claire near Rittenhouse Square, chef de cuisine Greg Garbacz tops watermelon chunks with crumbled Grana Padano cheese, thin-sliced red onion, and fresh mint. At Twenty21 in Commerce Square, sous chef Colin Leary has offered watermelon salad on his $24 lunch prix-fixe: dice-size cubes of melon and fried, panko-crusted puffs of goat cheese in a sweet sauce including shallots, mint and lavender, all on an oversize lettuce leaf.

City Paper names Philadelphia’s top five open kitchens.
- Audrey Claire
- Dmitri’s
- Little Fish
- ¡Pasion!
- L’Oca
And although these are all fine restaurants and several are among our favorites. This list is incomplete without Striped Bass and Osteria. And speaking of Osteria, Thursday/Friday lunch starts today.
