It’s Center City Sips this evening and today we’re thinking who will have the best air conditioning. Hotels rarely skimp on the a/c so we’re suggesting 10 Arts, 13 at Marriott, Elephant and Castle and Winthorpe & Valentine.

Center City Sips Is Back

Posted by Foobooz on May 8th, 2012

Center City SipsMark your calendar for Center City Sips. The Wednesday night happy hour returns June 6th and runs through August 29th. This year the prices are up a buck for drinks. That means $5 cocktails, $4 glasses of wine and $3 beers. Half-priced appetizers are still available and many participants are offering 15% off dinner.

We welcome the higher prices as the quality of deals offered over the past couple years had really plummeted. A scan of this year’s deals showed many more local beers being offered. As Center City Sips approaches, we’ll be highlighting some of the best deals, and for the curmudgeons, we’ll highlight good deals from bars and restaurants not participating in Center City Sips.

Center City Sips Picks

Posted by Foobooz on June 1st, 2011

Center City Sips kicks off this evening with its Wednesday nights of $2 beers, $3 wines, $4 cocktails and half-priced appetizers. But where is Sips really a deal?

Open Air

One option for Center City Sips is anywhere outdoors, open air happy hours are inherently happier hours (weather permitting).

  • The Corner – We could list The Corner is all our categories as they have a great roof deck, are offering Sly Fox Pikeland Pils and Dales Pale Ale, plus some of John Taus’ best snacks.
  • Independence Al Fresco – Drink outside as you overlook Independence Hall.
  • Marathon (1818 Market) – Ample room to chill and people watch.
  • Raw – We always feel like we’ve struck upon something special when we enter Raw’s courtyard.
  • Sampan – Sake infused cocktails and half-priced banh mi sandwiches make the Graffiti Bar a good spot to post up for Sips.
  • Table 31 – Soak up the sun at the Plaza Cafe in front of the Comcast Center.
