Greensgrow Farms will be holding their 5^th Annual Subaru Fall Festival on October 6^th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the day’s festivities include their yearly Chili Competition. Rain or shine contestants’ best secret chili recipes will go head-to-head during the tasting from 1-3 p.m. Entries can be beef, chicken, vegan, vegetarian, bean, no-bean – pretty much any way you want ‘em – and must be submitted (fully cooked) by 11 a.m. on the day of the festival. To enter you must register here by October 2.

This year the judges will be the festival public. Event attendees can pay $5 for a Subaru Fall Festival tasting mug and the chance to taste the competitors’ recipes. Ballots will be cast and the winner will be revealed at 3:45 p.m. The grand prize is a $200 Greensgrow gift card and the second prize will be The Rodale Whole Foods Cookbook and a year’s subscription to Organic Gardening Magazine. The third prize winner will receive a $50 gift card to a local restaurant.

Greensgrow’s Fall Festival will otherwise be filled with craft and harvesting demonstrations, cider pressing, face painting, craft vendors, and opportunities to visit the farm’s animals. Food vendors like Little Baby’s and Local 215 will be on hand and George Sabatino of Stateside will do a tasting and demonstration from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.
