Lowcountry Dinner with Hoppin’ John at Paris Wine Bar

On Monday, October 22, at 6 p.m. Paris Wine Bar is hosting famous author “Hoppin’” John Martin Taylor, author of “Hoppin’ John’s Lowcountry Cooking,” for dinner to celebrate the book’s twentieth anniversary. Hop on over to Paris Wine Bar and for $60 you’ll get a family-style meal, reception, and drink pairing hosted by Hoppin’ John himself and longtime friend Terry Berch McNally, co-owner of Paris.

Faithful New Orleans on Front Street

Adam Erace visits Catahoula, the Louisiana themed restaurant on Front Street in Queen Village. He finds several gems on the menu.

I could go to Catahoula, eat gumbo and nothing else, and leave very happy. But there are other temptations. Like oysters and po’ boys, advertised on faux-vintage banners affixed to the handsome brick front of the restaurant, which is named for Louisiana’s state dog, the Catahoula hound

Mom is a Chestnut Hill native who’s been a stylist to the stars, daughter is a Temple film grad who and Miss Pennsylvania 2007, together they’ve created Soul, a modern Creole restaurant in Chestnut Hill.

Soul Opens Tonight

According to PhillyBYOB.com, Chestnut Hill’s Soul will be opening this evening. Owners Samantha Johnson and Angie Brown are seemingly ahead of schedule as Table Talk had them aiming for Saturday, October 25th.
