Dave Magrogan Has Created a Sneaky Empire

This guy; cotton candy oysters guy; Mr. Kildare’s, himself. Dave Magrogan is a big deal, and barely anybody knows it.

Philadelphia Business Journal reported that Dave Magrogan, owner of Harvest Seasonal Grill, Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House, and Kildare’s Irish Pub made a little over $40 million dollars last year—and he’s on track to make $50 million in the next. He owns 14 restaurants, and employs 1,200, and is planning to open his 15th (another Harvest) in North Wales,  PA this summer.

Those are the kinds of numbers that even make Starr sweat. But then again, that’s not really saying much.

University City’s Doc Magrogan’s to Open the Week of July 4th

Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House is coming to 3432 Sansom Street in University City. It will be the fourth location of Dave Magrogan’s (Kildare’s, Harvest) oyster house concept.

Doc Magrogan’s will feature fresh seafood around the country and a raw bar with an array of east and west coast oysters. Executive Chef Karen Weinstein comes with seafood experience at several New York restaurants. Specialties will include:

  • Miso Marinated Halibut
  • Grilled Swordfish Caponata
  • Wood Grilled Filet
  • A “Simply Grilled” section will feature hand-selected fish, wood-grilled and brushed with herb gremolatta and served with roasted fingerling potatoes, truffle cauliflower and grilled asparagus.

Doc’s takes over the La Terrasse space on Sansom Row and is the first of two Dave Magrogan projects for University City. Magrogan’s Harvest (seasonal grill and wine bar) is opening later this year at 40th and Walnut in the former Marathon space.
