Golosa Chocolate Bar & Dessert Lounge at 6th and Passyunk is closing after six years in business. The BYOB dessert spot will be open this week until May 24th. So stop in and say goodbye or to take advantage of sales prices on their imported Italian chocolates.

Shake Shack Kicks Off 2nd Annual Great American Shake Sale

Shake it for a good cause!

Starting May 1st, Shake Shack is hosting the 2nd annual Great American Shake Sale, a company-wide marketing initiative benefiting Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. Throughout the month of May, Shake Shack guests who donate $2 or more to No Kid Hungry will receive a card for a complimentary $5 shake, redeemable on their next visit.  One hundred percent of donations will benefit No Kid Hungry.

Last year, Shake Shack raised $135,742 for No Kid Hungry.  This year Shake Shack has upped the goal to $150,000.

In the spirit of the bake sale, Shake Shack is offering seven special baked good-inspired frozen custard flavors—one for each day of the week.

Igloo Appears at Grays Ferry and South

igloo-windowIt’s cold enough for an Igloo but the Igloo at the intersection of Grays Ferry and South Street is a frozen dessert spot. The window graphics promise healthy, natural and chill. Things we might be interested in after this cold wave breaks.

According to the South of South Neighbors Association, the sorbet, frozen yogurt, and water ice is aiming to open by mid-February.

Barbuzzo Budino Available for Pick Up

Barbuzzo’s famous salted caramel budino is available for holiday pickup now till 5 p.m. Christmas Eve at Verde (108 S 13th Street, next to Barbuzzo).

The delectable Best of Philly winning dessert is $8 per jar, and unlike past years, you can just buy one. But why buy one? Then you’d have to share it.

Magpie Opens this Saturday

This Saturday September 1 at 11am Magpie Artisan Pie Bakery and Boutique will open its doors to the hungry pie lovers of Philadelphia. Open for lunch, dinner, or dessert from 11 to 8 p.m. owner Holly Ricciardi will sell sweet and savory pies (and pie fries!) in her eighteen seat shop. Slices will range from $4.50-$8.50, and whole pies will be $28-$35 and must be ordered in advance.

Franklin Fountain Now Sells Their Hot Fudge to Go
