Massive Oysters at Doc Magrogan’s University City
Posted by Victor Fiorillo on February 12th, 2013
I was once with cheesesteak mogul Tony Luke at some Beverly Hills restaurant (long story), and he ordered these big, fat oysters that–I swear–were the size of small cheeseburgers. These Elkhorn oysters from Washington State are kind of bringing back those memories. Read the rest of this entry »

Doc Magrogan’s in University City and West Chester does buck-a-shuck oysters from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays. Tonight those buck-a-shuck oysters include 15 different varieties of bivalves, Nova Scotia to Washington. That’s a heck of a lot more variety than your average dollar oyster happy hour.

Buck-a-Shuck Monday Kicks Off at Doc Magrogan’s Tonight
Posted by Victor Fiorillo on August 6th, 2012
Given that yesterday was National Oyster Day, I popped over to the just opened University City outpost of Doc Magrogan’s to enjoy some bivalves and cocktails. (And the smoked fish dip and grilled mahi-mahi). Bartender Brian gave me the heads up that today is the first of Doc’s weekly Buck-a-Shuck Mondays, with a few varieties of oyster priced at just a dollar — not just during happy hour, but all night. Today’s buck-a-shuck selections: Sewansecott, James River and Delaware Bay.

On Wednesday, the first 350 people to head over to Fleming’s in Marlton from noon through 2 p.m. will receive a free mini-cheesesteak sandwich grilled to order in a tent outside the restaurant.
Steakhouse cheesesteaks are good, and this one’s got all the right ingredients: prime steak, sautéed onions, red peppers, and melted swiss on a homemade potato roll. But it gets even better — the first 200 people to arrive will also receive a gift card for a complimentary selection from Fleming’s new “5 for 6 til 7″ menu, a selection of five cocktails, five wines by the glass, and five appetizers, each priced at $6 and served till 7 p.m. nightly.
