Grillicious Looks Closed

Posted by Foobooz on March 26th, 2013

grillicious-locked

The doors of Grillicious (the former Crisp) at 32 S 18th Street in Center City are padlocked shut today. Padlocks on the outside often mean that the landlord doesn’t want the tenant getting inside.

Crisp Is Now Grillicious

Posted by Foobooz on November 19th, 2012

After a year long run as Crisp, the falafel spot at 18th and Ludlow is rebranding itself as Grillicious. And that’s not the only change as the fast-serve spot is now offering some non-vegetarian options.

The new menu offers flatbread sandwiches (gone is the orignal pita), salads, hummus bowls and an angus burger.

The new Grillicious is under the same ownership and opens to the public tomorrow, Tuesday, November 20th.

Posted by Foobooz on September 27th, 2011

Crisp has opened its first Philadelphia location at 32 South 18th Street. The brightly appointed spot offers falafel sandwiches, hummus bowls, salads and flatbreads.

We stopped in today to look around and try a falafel sandwich.

Check out the slideshow for a look at the Athenian, a Greek take on the falafel sandwich and Crisp’s clever packaging.

The Lunch Scene: Mama’s Vegetarian

Posted by Victor Fiorillo on May 11th, 2011

They must be giving away falafel sandwiches today at Mama’s. Two things you don’t see in this photo: a) the non-existent line at the newish and quite good halal/falafel truck behind me and b) the extremely dirty look that the guy on the extreme left in the photo gave me just after I took the picture. I opted for popcorn from Nuts To You.

Got a photo from around town you want us to see? Send it!

VendrTV Visits 20th & Market

Posted by Foobooz on March 19th, 2009

VendrTV launched in February with former Philadelphia resident and voice of Rittenhouse Square, Daniel Delaney searching out great street food around the world. We’ve been waiting for him to come back to Philadelphia and have to say, we’re not surprised he wound up at Kostadinos “Gus” Hristis’ falafel stand at 20th and Market.

Memo To NY: NY <> United States

Posted by Foobooz on October 12th, 2007

Maoz

Ahh, our friends in New York are at it again. This time amNew York is claiming New York is the home to the first Maoz in the United States.

Maoz Though the options may be limited, the sole menu item — falafel — is crisp and delicious. The Union Square location is the first U.S. franchise of a Dutch chain, with more on the way

Of course the first Maoz in the United States actually opened on South Street back in 2004. First it was gastropubs and now this.
