Mica Offering a Foie Gras Tasting Dinner for $45

On Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st Chip Roman is preparing a four-course foie gras tasting dinner at Mica. The dinner is $45 per person and beverage pairings will be available. Check out the drool-worthy menu after the jump.

Back to School Dinner at Meritage

Marigold Kitchen’s Turns Three, Releases Fall Menu

The first of the fall menus is in: Marigold Kitchen has released its latest menu, full of autumnal ingredients like sweet potatoes, beets, and more. Highlights from the menu include coffee fried sweetbreads, a Painted Hills’ filet of beef with foie gras, beets, pears, and arugula, plus zucchini donuts. The beginning of the season has us itching for the leaves (and menus) to change.

Also, as of September 1st Marigold Kitchen’s latest iteration turns three years old. Happy anniversary, Marigold!

New Menu at R2L

Chef Daniel Stern has created a new menu for R2L for lunch and dinner. Highlights from the lunch menu include lobster and crab spring rolls with Chesapeake bay mousse and roasted flank steak with corned beef hash for. For dinner, Stern has created a foie gras spring roll and entrees that include grilled Scottish salmon filet and a vegetarian pot au feu.

#FoieFridays and a Late Night Foie Happy Hour

It’s the final week of  #FoieFridays with an impressive list of Philadelphia restaurants offering special $10 foie gras dishes. The event is in response to the imminent outlawing of foie gras in California and onight Ela is hosting a special infustry party/happy hour after 10 p.m. that will feature $5 foie appetizers and drink specials.

“Foie Fridays” Starts Tomorrow

In protest of the recent foie gras troubles in California (where a complete Nanny State ban on foie gras is due to take effect on July 1), Philadelphia chefs are teaming up to support their West Coast brethren in fighting the good fight. In order to bring a little light and make a little noise, chefs like Jason Cichonski of Ela have called on their colleagues to bring foie gras to the people.

The result? Foie Fridays. And the first one is tomorrow.

Long Live Foie Gras: Philly Chef Supports California Foie Gras Ban Resistors

We’ve already told you about chef Ben Puchowitz‘s show-stopping dessert at the most recent Foobooz Open Stove Night at Cook. And we’ve also told you about the new “Long Live Foie Gras” tasting menu that Puchowitz and his crew at Matyson are currently serving to hordes of liver-obsessed fans who pack are packing the joint for the $55 5-course meal.

But what we haven’t yet talked about is where this sudden passion for foie gras came from–what so moved chef Puchowitz that he was inspired to throw together this steal of a menu (“One of my favorite menus I’ve ever done,” according to the man himself) and construct that dessert that has had us dreaming of liver-based desserts for nearly a week now.

The answer? It has a lot to do with a little place called California…
