Circles Gets A New Lunch Menu, Offers Free Burgers (Yeah, Burgers)

And because Circles is a Thai restaurant, it makes total sense that, to celebrate the new menu, chef Alex Boonphaya is giving away free burgers to everyone at the Northern Liberties location between noon and 2pm tomorrow–the day the new menu launches. I mean, nothing says Thailand like a nice cheeseburger, right?

Actually, the burger? That isn’t so weird since, slowly but surely, Boonphaya has been turning Circles into a strange kind of Thai/Mexican/American/Indian/Spanish/Korean fusion restaurant with things like Thai burritos, kimchi tacos with Penang beef, lamb massaman naan pizzas and nachos on the new board.

Oh, and that burger? Not your traditional bar burger, natch. He’s calling it a Sai Oar burger, making it with ground beef and lamb, topping it with fried onions, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese and a fried egg and and serving it with tomatillo sauce.

Tonight: Free Food, Booze And Bacon At SoWe

So sure, you could go out tonight and pay for your dinner like a sucker. Or you could head over to G-Ho’s SoWe where they’re celebrating their first anniversary by giving away the house to anyone who makes it through the door.

So what’s on the giveaway list? How ’bout free sliders from the kitchen (burger, pork belly, chick pea fritter, meatball, chicken mole and vegan reuben varieties), free draft beers from the bar, free samples of the new chocolate bacon bourbon adult milkshakes being mixed up by bar manager Craig Steel (yes that’s his real name, but you can make fun of him anyway) and free homemade mini ice cream sandwich cookies from chef Jenn Choplin.

Or, you know, you could go and pay for a 20-piece order of chicken McNuggets and go eat them alone in your dark apartment. Your call.

Free Stuff Alert! VIP Tickets To Brauhaus Schmitz’s Maifest

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, spring is in the air. The sun is shining, birds are tweeting and Jeremy Nolen and Brauhaus Schmitz are making plans to shut down an entire section of South Street for their first annual Maifest Spring Festival and drinkapalooza.

Maifest (which, in case you need a culturally apt reason to attend, is a TOTALLY authentic German spring festival which is celebrated by drinking beer and jamming sausages in your face–yeah, you heard me) will take place on Saturday, May 4th, from noon to 8pm. There will be beers. There will be food. There will be oompa bands and girls in dirndls and lots of roast pork. But do you know what could make it even better? A pair of free VIP tickets to the whole shebang.

Luckily, that’s what we’re giving away today.

Free Cookies!

If you haven’t had the chance to try an Insomnia Cookie, you should go ahead and do that. They’re literally everything you want out of a cookie, down to that commercial-worthy sexy split, connected by melty strands of chocolate chip. If you don’t feel like leaving your home for a cookie, don’t worry, they deliver—with milk, which is just all kinds of awesome.

Insomnia Cookies was born out of a dorm just a few years ago, and the owners have since opened four other locations in Philly. Their fifth opened yesterday in Midtown Village (135 S. 13th Street). To celebrate their grand opening, they’re offering a free cookie coupon and a 3-Chocolate-Chunk-cookies or $2 delivery promotion. The cookie coupon is on their Facebook page. Have fun.

Free Cheesesteak Spring Rolls At Davio’s

Yeah, the cold weather in Philly can really suck. But you know what might make it a little nicer? Free food, hot from the Friolator.

Starting today (which is not really all that cold), Davio’s is offering a deal to get you out into the cold. On any day where the temperatures drop below freezing (that’s 32 degrees fahrenheit for those of you who failed high school chemistry), all you have to do is head to the bar at Davio’s, show the bartender your phone with proof that the weather truly does suck the required amount, and he or she will bring you a free order of fancy-pants cheesesteak spring rolls from the kitchen.

The deal is only good Monday–Friday 11:30am–2:30pm and 5:00pm–11:00pm, and only works if you’re in the bar area, but frankly, Davio’s has a really nice bar, so that’s no hardship. What’s more, they’ve got those nice windows so you can look down into the street and see all the poor suckers out there not tucked away in a warm bar eating free spring rolls. Take that, everybody who’s not you!

Yuengling Toasts Philadelphia with 10,000 Free Beers

Yuengling, the oldest and largest American brewery is raising a glass to the awesome beer city of Philadelphia. On Friday, September 28^th at exactly 6:30 p.m. a toast from fifth-generation owner Dick Yuengling will go out across the city at almost 250 bars. You could watch the toast be given from the Pottsville brewery on Comcast SportsNet, or you could be a real card-carrying Philadelphian and go get some free beer.

I love this photo. I really do.

It came from Wednesday night’s Open Stove event at COOK, and frankly, I think it’s one of the best that Yoni Nimrod–our officially unofficial Foobooz photographer–has ever shot for us. The best thing about it? It’s not staged or lit or decorated in any way. It was just a moment that happened, and he was there with his camera to capture it.

Which, of course, got me thinking. Since I promised that I would have more Feastival tickets to give away, I was looking to come up with another little game for us to play. And since we’d just had this contest where you all had to sift through our photos, I thought that maybe we should reverse things this time. Maybe we should have to look at all your best food snaps.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, here’s the deal. A couple days ago, we had a nice little ticket giveaway for a couple seats at one of our Open Stove Nights at COOK. And frankly, giving stuff away to you, the loyal Foobooz community, felt pretty good. So now we’re doing it again, and this time the prize is even bigger.

What we’re offering is a pair of VIP tickets to this year’s Feastival (happening on Wednesday, September 12). The tickets regularly go for $350 and include early entrance to the event, a private chef’s demo, an auction preview and exclusive bar service (which is probably the most valuable perk of all), and all you have to do to get them is be the first to identify those six pictures up there.

You got plans for tomorrow night? You got better plans than dropping in on one of our Foobooz Open Stove Nights at COOK and getting fed by two brothers battling it out for culinary supremacy right before your very eyes?

Yeah, didn’t think so. Tomorrow night, we have the Stryjewski brothers (Waldemar from a.kitchen and Stephen from Square 1682) in our culinary Thunderdome, and a couple of last-minute spaces that have just opened up. So, for all you lucky Fooboozians, we’re holding a contest (with very, very simple rules) and giving away a pair of tickets to tomorrow night’s festivities.
