Philadelphia magazine’s ThinkFest is coming up this weekend, and in order to get you all in an innovative frame of mind, we’ve decided to give away another pair of tickets for Saturday’s big-brain hootenanny at the Rittenhouse Hotel.
Because we’ve got a large and distinguished group of food people taking part in this year’s discussion (Stephen Starr is the Friday night keynote speaker, after all), for round one of the contest, I asked for your best food and/or restaurant brainstorms–the Big Ideas that would re-shape Philly and move it boldly into the future at the forefront of the food world.
This time, though–in honor of the Foobooz Top 50 Bars list released yesterday and the various beer and liquor smarties taking part in ThinkFest–we’re going in the other direction. This time, I want your Big Booze Ideas…

This Friday, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is throwing a party. A big party, and they’re inviting some of the best chefs and best suppliers in the area to come down. We’re talking Marc Vetri doing a roast pork loin with autumn panzanella salad and orange agrodolce, Andrew and Kristin Wood from Russet doing stinging nettle crostini, pork belly and clams from Lacroix’s Jon Cichon and cauliflower kabobs with sage from Sean McPaul of Talula’s Garden, all down at the Navy Yard which will be transformed into a rustic, farm-to-table paradise on the night of the event.
There will be farmers and chefs, local booze from Earth Bread + Brewery, Dad’s Hat, Blue Moon and Thorny Rose, local grub from dozens of restaurants–and, if you’re lucky, you’ll be there, too. We’re giving away two pairs of VIP tickets for tomorrow night’s shindig, and all you have to do is convince us why YOU should be the one to win them.

Time is running short. The date is drawing nigh. The Philadelphia magazine Whiskey Festival is right around the corner but, because we love you, we’re still trying to give away a free pair of VIP tickets for the event happening on Thursday, October 25.
What do you have to do? Almost nothing. Just go the the Philadelphia Whiskey Festival page, look for the button marked “sweepstakes” and follow the direction. Do what you’re told and you’ll be entered into the drawing for the free tickets. Easy as pie.
So what are you waiting for? The contest ends next Wednesday and you’re not going to improve your chances any by waiting until the very end.

I believe we’ve mentioned a couple times now about tomorrow night’s fundraiser/launch party for the new Garces Family Foundation. Matter of fact, I think we’ve mentioned it more than a couple times. But now we’re mentioning it again because we want to send four of you lucky Fooboozers to the big event. For free.
We have in our possession two pairs of General Admission tickets to the party. These suckers are $200 a pop and grant you a 7:30pm access to the main floor of the event where Mike Stollenwork from Fish, Han Chiang from Han Dynasty, Kanella’s Konstantinos Pitsillides, David Gilberg and Carla Goncalves from Koo Zee Doo, Tashan’s Sylva Senat, Hiroyuki “Zama” Tanaka from Zama and representatives from all 8 of Garces’s local operations will all be cooking their hearts out for your enjoyment. There will be booze, there will be food, there will be entertainment, there will be a fine selection of Philly’s culinary elite on hand, and all you have to do to get your hot little hands on a pair of free tickets is write us a poem…

Hey guess what! The Rittenhouse Row Fall Gathering is tomorrow evening at the Comcast Center and we’ve got a couple pairs of last minute tickets to give away. Since the Fall Gathering is all about the booze (with a few snacks thrown in so that the whole party doesn’t just go completely sideways), this basically means that we’re offering a few lucky Fooboozers the chance to drink for free from some of the best cocktail bars in town (plus Applebee’s), and all you have to do to win the tickets is write us a poem…

And that right there, ladies and gentleman, is the winning entry in our Foobooz/Feastival photo contest. And the shooter, KrissyLou219 has just won herself (or himself) a pair of tickets to Feastival, happening tomorrow night down at Pier 9. It’s gonna be a hell of a party (or at least it has been in years past), and this shot certainly earned it. Well done.
As a matter of fact, we got so many good entries into the Foobooz Flickr pool that we had to give away not just one additional pair of general admission tickets, but two. Honestly, we just couldn’t pick. Lucky for us we have a deep prize drawer…
