Jason Evenchik, of Vintage, Time and Bar fame, is working on another Philly first with three of his current partners and employees: a cafeteria and bar inside a former garage in South Philly that draws its inspiration from the American food truck movement.
No, really. We can’t make this stuff up.

Have you checked out Philly SteakOut? It’s one of the first applications we’ve seen that has harvested social media data and applied it in an interesting way. And as if you needed to be told, Pat’s, Geno’s and Jim’s are tourist spots.

It’s the Philadelphia equivalent of brawling over a pig’s pedigree. Dan Gross has the story on Jose Oviedo’s beef with Geno’s Steaks. Oviedo was arrested after scratching Joey Vento’s  Escalade. The altercation came about after Oviedo earlier questioned Geno’s employees over why they were unloading meat he said was marked from Uruguay and marked November, 2009.

It’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory come to life. Willy Won … — um, Max Brenner — has brought his vision of chocolate heaven to 1500 Walnut Street (his 16th location worldwide). With 4,200 square feet of space that seats 115 (half the size of his New York flagship in Union Square, but just as sweet) and a liquor license, Brenner turns chocolate into theater. There will be a full menu of sandwiches, entrées, and salads (plus cocoa-powder-dusted fries) on offer.
The restaurant is scheduled to open July 1st, but Max gave us a one-on-one tour this morning — click over for our walkthrough. — Allison Stadd
