Posted by Foobooz on February 1st, 2013

Today serves as the grand opening of Bufad Pizza at the corner of 13th and Spring Garden. The pizzeria is owned by Mike and Jeniphur Pasquarello (the tandem behind Cafe Lift and Prohibition Taproom) and they are turning out Neapolitan-style pizzas that rival the best in the city.

Check out the drool-worthy photo gallery below. And if you go, stop off at Prohibition first and grab a growler.

Bottle Bar East Gives Fishtown Its Own Bottle Shop

Posted by Amanda Shulman on October 12th, 2012

Calling all Fishtown beer lovers. Bottle Bar East is opening the last weekend in October at 1308 Frankford Avenue. Bottle Bar East is a new take out craft beer retail shop and bar that offers a large selection of craft beer bottles and cans that you can take-out or drink-in. Featuring a six-tap bar, growlers, and a wall of coolers, Bottle Bar East is certain to have something for everyone.

Once you find your favorite brew, you can either bring it home to enjoy, or sip it by the in-house pool table and dart board with some fellow craft beer lovers. With take out, the party doesn’t have to stop once you leave; now the fun goes where you go. If you have your own growler, be sure to bring it, but if not, they’ll be selling growlers for $5. Growler fill price will vary. There are future plans to serve food, so stay tuned.

Xfinity Live Now Open For Business (Which Means For Drinking)

Posted by Jason Sheehan on March 30th, 2012

As we speak, the crowds are likely descending on the brand-spankin’ new colossal money-making machine that is Xfinity Live. There are restaurants. There are gift shops. There are TV’s bigger than my first apartment, patios, fire pits, live music venues (one of which is currently occupied by Third Eye Blind, doing a free outdoor concert to “celebrate” the opening), a replica Stanley Cup, a mechanical bull and more bars than any reasonable human being needs access to within a hundred steps. Hell, there are more bars than any unreasonable human being needs access to within one hundred steps.

But the point is, it’s all there, It’s all open. And just a couple days ago (while the place was still crawling with construction crews desperately trying to get everything assembled for the grand debut), the Foobooz Full Coverage News Van pulled up out front and disgorged our crack team of video ninjas who got a first look at the place. Want to take a look at the place before committing to a night of corporate-approved debauchery? Then you’ve come to the right place…

Rex 1516 Pouring Reasonably Priced Beers, Filling Growlers

Posted by Foobooz on March 15th, 2012

As of Tuesday night, Rex 1516 on South Street has been legal to pour beer, wine and liquor. But the South Street West restaurant is doing something different with its beer list, namely making it affordable. Philadelphia Brewing’s Newbold IPA, for instance, is just $3 a pint, $12 for a filled growler. They’re also selling these nifty looking growlers for $10.

Speaking of alcohol sales in supermarkets, the Mile Post Pub has opened in Devon’s Whole Foods. The 5,000 sqft space holds its official opening on Saturday. The pub offers seating for 57 and you’ll find wine by the glass and beers available by the glass or growler.

Ralic’s Steakhouse in Haddonfield opens Saturday night. Hell’s Kitchen contestant Ed Battaglia is in the kitchen. Ralic’s menu will be priced between $10 and $18 for appetizers, entrees will cost range from the mid-twenties and mid-forties. Bataglia will continue to direct the culinary arts program at Garfield Park Academy in Willingboro, NJ. [Ralic's Steakhouse]

Vetri alum Joey Baldino has chosen Zeppoli as the name for his Collingswood BYOB. The spot which was the previous home of IndeBlue hopes to open next month. [The Insider]
