For the month of March, nine Northern Liberties bars are getting together and making sure they don’t pour the same beer twice. They’re calling it Northern Exposure and plan to offer an unrivaled draft list of over 100 unique beers through the month.
There is no cover charge or tickets, just pay as you go for beers. They’re encouraging small, self-guided bar crawls and there will be Beer Passports to help record the beers tried. Complete one brewer’s offerings in the month and get some free swag.

Progress continues at a.kitchen where the restaurant has received new floors, inside and out. [a.kitchen]

Marc Vetri’s North Broad bar was originally announced as Birreria but will open as Alla Spina (beer taps in Italian). Opening is about five months out. [The Insider]
In other name news Swanky Bubbles got a facelift and new identity thanks to Spike TV’s Bar Rescue. The Front Street lounge is now Sheer.
Aksum is an all-day Mediterranean cafe opening at 4630-32 Baltimore Avenue. [Naked Philly]
Wedge + Fig has softly opened in Old City. It’s cheese and light fare for now. Expect a full launch come First Friday. [Meal Ticket]
New chef at Gunners Run. Sarah Mays comes in with experience at FARMiCiA, Day By Day, and Artisserie Bakery & Cafe. [The Insider]

Tim McGinnis is pushing his wares beyond Plenty on East Passyunk. Artisinal by Plenty is providing sandwiches to cafes and groceries. Shot Tower Coffee is the first to add the quality bites. [Meal Ticket]
Chef Shawn Sollberger has left Gunners Run which has been open a bit more than a month. [The Insider]

Tonight is the official grand opening of Gunners Run at the Piazza. The party starts at 8p.m. with live music by Black Landlord, drink specials from Sixpoint Craft Ales and prizes and giveaways.
