Wanna Be Han Chiang’s Apprentice?
Posted by Jason Sheehan on May 3rd, 2013
Okay, so a few minutes ago, this happened:
Apprentice – Han Dynasty Restaurant Group (Philadelphia)
Han Chiang of Han Dynasty is looking for apprentice.
Do you want to be a millionaire?
Do you believe Han can make you a millionaire?
Will you listen to Han and do what he tells you to make you a millionaire?
Location: Philadelphia
Compensation: salary+
Principals only. Recruiters, please don’t contact this job poster.
Please, no phone calls about this job!
Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.
That is the complete text of a Craigslist posting, alleging that Han Chiang is looking for an apprentice who, provided he or she does everything Han says, will become a millionaire.
I know, I know… We thought it was a joke, too. Matter of fact, I was almost sure it was a joke. But I called Dave Jenkins, GM of the Old City Han Dynasty, and he promised me that this was an actual thing.
“I talked to Han about it briefly last night,” he told me. And though Han was “vague” about the details (“Like he is about most things,” according to Jenkins), the posting is apparently legit and comes straight from the man himself.
So have at it, folks. And please, whoever scores this gig? Reach out to your pals at Foobooz and let us know what, precisely, you have to do for that million.

Mike Solomonov and Han Chiang Plan Star Wars Collaboration
Posted by Foobooz on April 1st, 2013

Long time Foobooz reader and commenter Alimentarian, delivers us the scoop on a chef collaboration we can’t wait to taste.
On the heels of the announcement of his pop-up at Momofuku Saam Bar in New York, Michael Solomonov has revealed plans for an exciting home-town event at Zahav. Solomonov will be hosting Han Chiang of Han Dynasty for a collaboration they’re calling Han Solo. Zahav will be screening the original Star Wars movie and serving Star Wars-themed dishes and cocktails. The date and full menu have not been released, but a few tantalizing details have been provided.
Chiang will be offering a take on his famous Dan Dan noodles called Taun Taun innards (remember that scene from the Empire Strikes Back?). Solomonov, for his part, promises a dish called Chewbaccala and a dessert plate of wookie cookies and Federation Donuts.
We’ll release the date and details once finalized. In the meantime, look forward to this and may the Force be with you.

About Last Night: Stillwater Dinner at Han Dynasty
Posted by Arthur Etchells on February 20th, 2013

Last night Han Chiang hosted a beer dinner at Han Dynasty with Brian Strumke of Stillwater Artisanal. The dinner featured five-courses and 15 or so plates of Han’s fiery food paired with Stillwater beers. Strumke, a gypsy brewer specializes in farmhouse style beers which pair especially well with spicy food.
Chiang was his bombastic self, stating “any American food, I can do better.” He made this statement as he dropped off a plate of sichuan French fries which were a compelling reason that he might be right. Chiang also stated he wants to do a food truck. No timeframe but he wants it to operate at Temple, where “there are no rules.” Chiang has also been scouting locations for a Han Dynasty in the East Village of New York.
