Honey’s Sit ‘N Eat finally opened at 21st and South Street today for lunch. First reported back in June of 2010, the branch of Northern Liberties’ Jewish/Southern diner swung open the doors for lunch today.
UPDATE: Honey’s Sit ‘N Eat does not have regular hours yet. They’re “Live Training Exercises” are being held this week at different times. Call ahead to find out what’s going on. 215-732-5130.

About once a week we receive an email, text or tweet from someone exasperated that the Honey’s Sit ‘n Eat hasn’t opened at 21st and South Street yet. So for the doubters, we spotted the sign of progress being delivered.

Scrapple is a polarizing food. Some hear the world scrapple and think “I don’t even want to know what that is made out of” and others think “I don’t even care what this is made out of, it’s delicious.” If you are of the latter group then you will be happy to see this list of Philadelphia restaurants cooking scrapple up traditionally or in interesting ways. If you are of the former, well, hopefully this list will change your mind.

There was a lot of alarm a few weeks ago when realtor signs popped up at 21st and South on the building that is to host the second location of Honey’s Sit N Eat. But rest assured, Honey’s is still coming to Graduate Hospital. The signs weren’t for the corner location but rather for the apartments that also make up the almost block long complex.
The Honey’s folk have recently gained access to the space and are plugging away at converting the raw space into a restaurant. In the meantime, here’s a rendering of the interior.

G-Hoers, Center City South Philadelphians or just hungry Rithoes are all going to be disappointed to hear that the Honey’s Sit N Eat heading to 21st and South won’t be ready until March.
But buck up little ones, we followed up with Honey’s after hearing a rumor they were out of the deal altogether. So at least we know it is still a go.

Future Home of Honey's Sit n Eat

Yesterday we walked down South Street looking to see if Jet Wine Bar was open yet (it wasn’t, more paperwork) and documented the many other things we saw.

The wonderful Northern Liberties Honey’s Sit ‘N Eat is opening a second location, this one at 21st and South. The most favored bruncherie will be going into a building that previously belonged to Graduate Hospital. Extensive construction will be required so don’t expect pancakes till this winter.
