Remember back in January when we told you about the crowd funding project being launched by the Hot Diggity team in an attempt at getting their own hot dog cart up and running?
That’s cool if you don’t, because apparently enough people did find their way to the Lucky Ant page where Keith Garabedian was trying to raise the necessary pesos to get a cart version of his brick-and-mortar Hot Diggity dog shop onto the streets. According to the Insider, the new Hot Diggity cart (Hot Diggity 2: Electric Boogaloo) will be making its debut this coming Saturday at the South Street Headhouse District Spring Fest. It’ll take about a month to work out the kinks with appearances at farmers markets and special events, but after that, the cart will be a permanent fixture on the streets of our fair city.
According to the project page, Garabedian needed $7,ooo to get the cart of his dreams. He ended up raising about $7,700, and thus was a new hot dog cart born.
And that, my friends, is the miracle of life.

So, big week at Hot Diggity, right? First they go and get themselves all over the jumping box with their star-making appearance on the Travel Channel’s Hot Dog Paradise. And now word has come down that owner Keith Garabedian is looking to invest in his own version of the Wienermobile in order to take his tubesteaks on the road.
Or, to be more specific, he’s looking for YOU to invest, which is why he’s listed the project on Lucky Ant (one of those new-fangled crowd-funding sites) and is hoping to bring in anywhere from $7000-$10,000 in order to get a fully tricked-out hot dog food truck on the streets. And while sure, it would be very cool of you to drop by and throw a few bucks at this very worthy project without expecting anything in return, the way these things work is on a bonus system. You give a little money, you get a little something back (a free dog and a free drink for donating $5, for example). Give a lot, though, and you might get something super-cool…

The Buffalo Buffalo Dog is back this as the hot dog of the month at Hot Diggity. The dog is a custom made spicy buffalo hot dog produced by D’Angelo’s in the Italian Market. It’s then topped with buttermilk chive dressing, house-hot and honey-wing sauce, fresh celery, Maytag blue cheese, scallions, and chicken cracklings, served on a butter toasted bun.
Hot Diggity will also be on the Travel Channel’s Hot Dog Paradise, this Wednesday, January 9th at 11 p.m.

Missed Shake Shack’s patriotic corn dogs which only come thrice a year (Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Fourth o’ July)? Don’t worry, Hot Diggity has you covered. Throughout the month of September Hot Diggity will be serving up three types of corn dogs as their special of the month.
Each dog is topped with either a jalapeno cheese sauce, a Ssamjang and Korean chili mayo, or a honey ginger and sesame “dust.” For $5 you get one of each special dog and vegetarian varieties are available, too. Better stock up: once October comes there’s no knowing where you get you’ll fix till Memorial Day.

Yay, Potato Week! As our starchy celebrations draw to a close, we have one more big list for you–the results of our research into the realm of that most American(ish) of potato presentations, the french fry.
We had 82 different restaurants under consideration for this list–everything from crowd favorites like Village Whiskey and Hot Diggity to lesser-known (but know less loved) contenders like the long-gone crab fries at Sidecar Bar, the lovely frites at Grace Tavern or those at Eulogy (which had a fiercely committed fan base). Putting our waistlines and cholesterol levels on the line for you, we waded through the possibilities and winnowed everything down to a final list of 10: The best french fries of any variety, in any form, that you’re going to find anywhere in Philadelphia.
Hey, someone’s got to do it, right? This stuff is important. And while we here at Foobooz World HQ are absolutely sure that there isn’t one of you out there who will agree with every inclusion on the list (hell, we don’t even completely agree), there is sure to be something on here for everyone.
Happy Potato Week everyone. And now, on to the list…
