Honeygrow’s Justin Rosenberg just opened his second stir-fry, salad and smoothie location. This one is at 169 E City Avenue in Bala. The new location is about twice the size of the initial 16th and Sansom Street location.

Okay, so this is just genius. You know how new businesses (new restaurants, especially) are always trying to find ways to connect with their customers and get them through the doors during those all-important first couple months of business? Yeah, well most of the time these enticements take the form of happy hours, charity meals, tasting dinners and the like. But Honeygrow–Justin Rosenberg’s fast-casual salad-and-stir-fry concept going into the space at 1601 Sansom Street–has come up with a completely different way to get you through the door for the first time. He’s going to pay your parking tickets.
No, for reals. He’s set aside a fund of just over $1,000 to pay the PPA fines of new or existing customers. How it works is, you do something dumb, get tagged for it by the Parking Authority, then bring the ticket in to Honeygrow on the same day it was issued, and Rosenberg will buy you lunch. Actually, he’ll give you a voucher (up to $36) to spend at Honeygrow, but really, that’s the same thing. Nice, right? And that’s not all he has in store.

Honeygrow–the new fast-casual stir-fry-and-salad concept going into the former Pita Pit space at 1601 Sansom Street–is currently living behind plywood and scheduled for a mid-May opening. But one thing that is ready to go? The menu, which has been designed both by owner Justin Rosenberg and consultant/man-about-town Shola Olunloyo.
One of the basic building blocks of the Honeygrow experience is a touch-screen ordering system built for the iPad generation, with lovely pictures, swipe ability and a smart system that remembers each guest’s three previous orders and will grant them a free meal on the 10th swipe of a credit or debit card. All of this will allow customers to custom-design their own meals from the ground up. The only thing missing? Robots to put everything together–though it wouldn’t surprise me if Rosenberg was working on that, too.
In the meantime, some of those “lovely pictures” mentioned above have made their way into our hands. And they just seemed perfect for a nice round of Foobooz Friday Food Porn.
