Meanwhile, Over On The Philly Post: Son Of Former Khyber Pass Owner Convicted In Mumbai Attacks

Posted by Jason Sheehan on January 24th, 2013

Headley

David Headley, whose mother once owned the Khyber Pass Pub, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for his involvement in the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai, India that killed 164 people, including 6 Americans. They’ve got the whole story over on the Philly Post, but here’s the nut of it:

Headley seemed to leap at the chance to spill secrets following his 2009 arrest by the FBI in Chicago and continued providing details even after the U.S. government agreed not to seek the death penalty or allow extradition in exchange for his cooperation.

You can read the whole story over on the Philly Post right now.

Saint Peter’s Harvest Festival Raises Grade School Festival Bar

Posted by Alex Tewfik on October 19th, 2012

It isn’t often that a grade school’s fall festival is worthy of a post on Foobooz but tomorrow’s Harvest Festival at St. Peter’s School at 3rd and Lombard is no ordinary school event.

Of course there will be games, face-painting, pony rides, and baked goods from the students mothers but there will also be some serious eats. Names like Percy Street BBQ, Cantina Dos Segundos, Federal Donuts, Khyber Pass Pub, Little Baby’s Ice Cream, JAVA coffee, and even Whole Foods will take this small, unassuming street fair to the next level.

Food will be served 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Philly is the Late-Night Capital of the US

Posted by Aubrey Nagle on August 9th, 2012

According to the September issue of Esquire, Philadelphia is the Late-Night Capital of these here United States. The issue’s late-night eats guide contains essays about the difference between truck stops and diners, the glory that is poutine (I’d say we agree), and tons of recipes for manly food to be eaten in the wee hours of the morning. Esquire even lists all the best late-night foods from all over America– from egg rolls in Chicago to fried chicken in Louisville– but without mentioning a single food from Philly. Why? Because we got our own article about why we’re the best ever, that’s why.
