Michael Klein has the scoop on Northeast Philadelphia’s Steve’s Prince of Steaks taking over the former Krispy Kreme at 16th and Chestnut. The Northeast Philadelphia spot is often cited as one of the better cheesesteaks in town and there really isn’t a dedicated cheesesteak spot west of Broad.
No timeframe for the opening.

Michael Klein has the details about Krispy Kreme pulling out of its Center City location at 16th and Chestnut. The equipment is going to the upcoming Krispy Kreme in Havertown. The final day for the downtown location is this Sunday.
The writing has been on the wall for the 16th Street location since Naked Philly spotted that the space was listed back in July. No word on what might replace the doughnut spot.

In case you somehow missed it, today is December 12, 2012, or 12/12/12. It’s the same backwards and forward. And for some reason everyone loses their shit. And as annoying as that might be, there are some really good events happening today, some inspired by the date, some because it’s the second Wednesday in December.

Bensalem’s Krispy Kreme will open on Monday, November 21st on Street Road near Hulmeville Road. We’re sure with this being the fourth Krispy Kreme in the area, this opening will be a calm and almost ho-hum affair. Or not, the people love their Krispy Kremes, ourselves included. Ah, well. For those of you who’ve decided to bunker-down in front of your computers this weekend, here’s what you might’ve missed while stocking up on whiskey and Oreos in anticipation of the coming storm.

South Jersey’s first Krispy Kreme opened in Collingswood today. Though you could ostensibly walk there for dessert after a meal at Tortilla Press, you’ll be more likely to pass through the drive-through on your way home, given its location in a former KFC on the heavily trafficked corner of Haddon and Cuthbert Aves., just a few blocks off downtown’s main strip. But if you do fancy stopping in for a spell, the donut palace (which has its next local opening scheduled for Bensalem) is adding creature comforts like a lounge — outfitted with a flat-screen TV and free WI-FI — where you can sit, sip lattes and cheer on your favorite TV police detective as he cracks the inevitable cynical observations about sex, criminals and donuts (probably in that order).
Speaking of cops, the addition might be a welcome addition for C-wood’s finest but not so much for nearby McMillan’s Bakery, a mainstay since 1939 that’s rumored to be konsidering the possibility of klosing.
