And this (I think…) is that same salad, finished and on the plate. Ensalada de jicama, radish, avocado and peoitas. Looks just like the diagram, right?

Today through Sunday, March 3rd, La Calaca Feliz is offering a four-course tasting menu with mezcal pairings inspired by chef Lucio Palazzo’s recent visit to Oaxaca, Mexico.
The menu is $27 per person plus $18 for mezcal pairings.
Steve Wildy is back with the second Weekly Wildy where he shares how to get a free can of beer at Alla Spina. He also announces that the team from La Calaca Feliz is going to be at Alla Spina tonight for Industry Night.
Halloween may be a little bit damp this year (or, if you live in New Jersey, rescheduled by official decree of governor Christie), but your plans for celebrating Dia de los Muertos need not suffer. We’ve got several area restaurants putting out special menus for the Day of the Dead, and here’s what to expect.
Two new tasting menus will be gracing the tables of La Calaca Feliz and Cantina Feliz. The first is the “Back to Cool” menu served at both restaurants now through September 23rd. For $30 at La Calaca or $25 at Cantina, each guest will receive a multi-course meal of dishes prepared by chef Tim Spinner and Cantina’s line cooks, some of whom hail from Mexico, based on their favorite hometown dishes. An optional beverage pairing with Herradura Tequila will be available for $12.
Look for the full La Calaca “Back to Cool” menu and details on the second menu after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
