If you were at Hop Chef you heard Jersey Dan dee-jay. Maybe you even went to Alla Spina for the after party and had more beer you really didn’t need. Reminisce tonight at Alla Spina as he DJs the bar’s Thursday Tap That night. Jersey Dan goes on at 9 p.m., the food and drink special go from 10 p.m. to midnight.

To make it truly like Hop Chef, at the end of the night, call Dan and tell him you left your camera in his car, even though you didn’t.

Alla Spina and Uber Team Up for Happy Hour Deals

Alla Spina and Uber (the Best of Philly winning reason to never ride in a cab again) are teaming up for a happy hour special. Schoolly D DJing at Alla Spina This Thursday

So this Thursday Alla Spina is hosting a DJ night with local rap icon Schoolly D. Turns out Schoolly is a regular at Osteria and Amis but hasn’t been seen at Alla Spina. When asked why he wasn’t hanging at Marc Vetri’s Italian gastropub Schoolly answered, “because y’all aint throwin’ a party.” So the crew at Alla Spina is correcting this tomorrow when Schoolly will be spinning at the bar starting at 10 p.m. tomorrow. How can that not be fun? Alla Spina late-night happy hour will also be in effect from 10:30 to midnight.

Alla Spina Adds Seven Days of Happy Hours

Starting tonight Alla Spina is offering happy hours twice nightly. Between 4:30 to 6 p.m. nightly and then again late night from 10:30 to midnight and even later on Fridays and Saturdays, where the deals will run from 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

During the happy hours all draft beer is two dollars off, some wine is available for $7 and several of Alla Spina’s most fun snacks will also be discounted.

Happy Hour Begins Today at Fish

Happy Hour begins tonight at the new location of Fish at 13th and Locust. The deals run Monday through Friday between 5 and 6 p.m. and more importantly, again on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. to midnight.

Opa Launching Happy Hour Featuring $1 Skewers

On Thursday, January 19th Opa is introducing its new weeknight happy hour. Many of the most popular items from the menu will be available for under $5 including skewers for just a buck. From 5 to 7 p.m. weeknights and again from 10 to 11 p.m. the Greek restaurant will also be offering $3 beers and discounted cocktails and wines.

In order to celebrate the beginning of the happy hour this Thursday, complimentary food and drinks will be served at half-hour intervals between 5 and 7 p.m.

Tonight: Happy Hour on Passyunk

A Foobooz follower on Twitter asked for a happy hour suggestion on Passyunk Avenue. That got us to thinking that we hadn’t mentioned Birra’s new happy hours on the site. Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. all pizzas are half-priced. That means $3 for a cheese pizza, $4.50 Gaaalic and; $6.50 for Mac & Cheese pizza. Looking for something later in the evening, Birra offers a late-night happy hour from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. with $4 craft drafts, $5 glasses of wine and $6 specialty cocktails.

PA Happy Hour Rules Loosened

Good News: Effective Thursday, July 28th rules governing happy hour in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are going to be loosened up.

Bad News: Some of our favorite happy hour deals including late night happy hours are still illegal.

Effective on July 28, 2011, a retail licensee can hold happy hours up to four (4) hours per day and up to fourteen (14) hours per week. Thus, while the maximum period remains fourteen (14) hours per week, licensees will be able to adjust the length of their daily happy hours to take advantage of slow/busy days, as long as the maximum limits are not exceeded. The hours need not be consecutive, but the prohibition against giving discounts between midnight and closing remains intact, as well as the other discounting provisions in section 13.102 of the Board’s Regulations, including the daily drink special. A notice of all happy hours must now be posted on the licensed premises seven (7) days prior to each happy hour.

We look forward to seeing how creative bars use the new flexibility but wonder if the new rules will lead to cracking down on some current deals.
