About Saturday Night: Chip Roman Debuts New Candy Line and Jen Carroll Helps Out

Posted by Foobooz on March 25th, 2013

ACHIEVEability05

Saturday Night was ACHIEVEability’s Food for Thought charity event, where more than thirty local restaurants prepared tasting plates for guests of the event.

HughE Dillon was there and in this photo captured just about all the news to be had at the charity event. Chip Roman, owner of Blackfish, Mica and Ela was on hand showing off his new line of Bluestone candies. Jen Carroll was helping out Phoebe Esmon as Esmon served a couple of different punches for the assembled, but Carroll couldn’t help but come to the aid of  Karl Isaiah, of Cake Boulangerie, who was serving solo next to Esmon’s cocktail stand.

What’s that? You’re sick to friggin’ death of all the Restaurant Week nonsense clogging up your favorite restaurants (and your favorite food blog)? Well then have I got a deal for you…

Over at Matyson, they’re doing their yearly “F.U. Restaurant Week” lobster tasting menu which, for just $45, gets you 5 courses of lobstery goodness, in a dining room where the staff isn’t ready to slit their wrists if they have to talk about the goddamn chicken special one more time.

You can check out the menu (and a couple notes on the menu) after the jump.

Cheu Noodle Has a Home

Posted by Foobooz on January 2nd, 2013

Cheu Noodle Bar has a home and a opening target. Ben Puchowitz of Matyson and Shawn Darragh are aiming to open before the end of February at the former Maru Global at 255 South 10th Street.

The interior has been gutted and new equipment is now being installed. There will be an open kitchen with bar seats along the line. The ramen spot will have room for 30 people and is working on securing a liquor license.

The menu will have be broken down by vegetables, snacks and noodles. Darragh also promises one or two other sections, “but we have to keep something secret.”

This Week, It’s a Best of Matyson Tasting Menu

Posted by Maegan Cadet on November 26th, 2012

Now that Thanksgiving is over, the holiday season has officially begun. This means that eating large quantities of food for the sake of “holiday cheer” is not only acceptable, but encouraged by men and women alike. If “holiday cheer” feasting isn’t enough motivation, however, Matyson invites you to celebrate its ninth birthday with a Best of Matyson tasting menu.
