It’s a real-life Kitchen Nightmares episode as Brian Freedman checks out Manayunk’s  Munk & Nunn.
Sadly, despite all the work on the space and on the food, the enterprise is still mired in the sort of problems that, if not remedied quickly, could very well cause the bell to toll for this perplexing and vaguely abbeylike space.

Aloha means goodbye. And it is goodbye for Roy’s at 15th and Sansom. Coming in will be a new concept run by Ed Doherty of Union Trust and backed by the Grasso brothers. It’ll be a reunion of sorts for the Grassos as they went separate ways in steakhouses. Joe is a part-owner of Union Trust and David owns the Grande building that houses Del Frisco’s. [The Insider]

Tweed’s Edward Bianchini is planning on opening a boutique hotel at 7th and Chestnut. Bianchini had been running a hotel in the South of France before returning to his hometown. The hotel will feature 18 rooms and a European restaurant. [Grub Street]

Every neighborhood needs a gastropub and now Manyunk has Munk & Nunn to call its own. It opens May 8th and it looks kind of cool. [The Insider]
The Bottle Shop was originally slated for an April opening at 1942 E Passyunk. But that’s delayed as “due to circumstances beyond our control” the store is now going in at 1837 E Passyunk. [Facebook]
