Hyper-local news site, the Patch sits down and talks to Marc Vetri about his plans for opening Osteria at the Moorestown Mall.
Among the most interesting tidbits:
- Opening in the fall of 2013.
- 5,000 square fee.t
- Bigger bar area.
- Marc Vetri did consider opening a version of Osteria at Revel.
- Vetri has had other discussions with PREIT (the mall operator) regarding opening restaurants.
- Although many restaurateurs worry about location, location, location, Vetri believes in, “make something that people want to go to and they will come.”

How often do you wish for that Italian mother you never had? One to teach you how to mold fresh pasta and make their famous meatballs? Well if you’re like me, pretty often. Lucky for us, we can get a taste of what it would be like by borrowing someone else’s Italian mamma.
On Tuesday, December 11th, the mother-in-law of Osteria’s Chef Michaud, Pina Carrera, is making the trek from Italy to cook up her special holiday dinner. For one night only enjoy her traditional four course Bergamoscan celebration meal. It’ll cost you $175 per person, including wine, tax and gratuity, but for a special occasion like this, it promises to be more then worth it.

An Irish cheesesteak, foie-kebabs, Nutella pizza and a simple plate of spaghetti at a restaurant known for somewhat more complicated presentations–these are just a few of the secret plates uncovered by Grub Street Philly in an excellent investigation that hit the interwebs this afternoon.
There are a million dishes in the naked city, but not all of them are listed on menus. And there’s no single answer why chefs and restaurateurs keep these secrets. Some are things that were replaced in menu updates, but remain tastes that loyal customers can’t live with out; other are simply special plates reserved for celebrities, high rollers and dearly loved regulars.
So check it out, won’t you? All 8 of the plates that made Grub’s list sound like they would make an excellent dinner tonight. Though something tells me you might not be the only fella in the dining room looking for those foie kebabs…

Marc Vetri has just signed a lease to bring Osteria to the Moorestown Mall. Vetri’s name has been dangled as the carrot for Moorestown residents, who last year voted to overturn the town’s liquor ban by offering liquor licenses at the mall.
The path was cleared for the licenses just three days ago. Last year’s referendum had been struck down by a Superior Court judge who said liquor licenses could not just be restricted to just the mall because it was an example of zoning by referendum. The Township Council then created an ordinance restricting alcohol to the mall and nearby East Gate Shopping Center.
With the ordinance unanimously passed, the four liquor licenses were awarded to PREIT, which owns the mall. No formal word on who will get the other three liquor licenses.
