Marigold Kitchen Does Away with A La Carte

Posted by Foobooz on January 25th, 2013

2_MARIGOLD_Samuel Markey

Beginning this weekend Marigold Kitchen is doing away with a la carte ordering. From now on you can create your own tasting menus of 4, 5 or 6 courses (plus the parade of amuse bouches). The price starts at $65 per person and goes up from there. Prix fixe has been the way to go at Marigold anyway, but now it’s the only way. We’re just glad they didn’t heed Philadelphia magazine’s note that if Marigold were in New York, it would easily be $150 per head.

In Riva Adds Housemade Pasta to Menu

Posted by Amanda Shulman on October 11th, 2012

In Riva is introducing four tasting-size pasta dishes which will be adapted on a monthly basis to pay tribute to the season’s peak ingredients, opening the door to an incredible amount of pastabillities. For the East Falls’ restaurant’s fall pasta debut, Chef/Owner Arthur Cavaliere has a Garganelli with lamb ragu, black olives, and pine nuts; a Corone with peas, shallots and truffles; a Nastrini with lobster, chanterelle and basil, and a Fiondette with pork sugo, asparagus and oregano. The pastas range from $11 to $16 or you can share them all for $45.

Beyond this pasta party, the menu is full of fall additions like Glazed Short Ribs with golden raisins, capers, and pine nuts, Roasted Scallops with apple, smoked bacon, and almond, and a Potato and Gorgonzola pizza with leek, smoked bacon, and thyme.

In Riva also offers a Chef’s Tasting Menu every night for $35 a person, for $15 you can add a wine pairing to accompany each course. With these new pastas, we’re feeling the fancy route, and have a feeling you will be too.

Matyson’s Last Suckling Pig Sunday

Posted by Aubrey Nagle on September 26th, 2012

Despite the news that a pork shortage of apocalyptic proportions is apparently eminent (but probably not) and may preclude the creation of any more bacon-based gimmicks (gasp!), Matyson is finishing its Suckling Pig Sundays with one last hurrah this weekend on September 30. The $35 four-course menu will be the last of the pig-filled meals, but October will bring a new prix fixe Sunday dinner featuring whole fish. For the last full suckling menu, read on.
