Last Day for Q BBQ in Old City

Kevin and Janet Meeker have had a restaurant at 2nd and Chestnut for 29 years but today they end that chapter as Q BBQ closes. The location was also the longtime home of Philadelphia Fish & Company. The Meekers also own Keg & Kitchen (formerly Cork) in Westmont and are silent partners in Plough & the Stars.

Tastykakes will make their Citizens Bank Park debut this year as the Philadelphia tradition will be available in counter-top refrigerators. [The Insider]

New York has the Spotted Pig, Malvern has the Flying Pig and Northern Liberties is getting the Blind Pig. The gastropub will be taking over the former Kong/Sovalo space. [The Insider]

Jolly’s Dueling Piano Bar has closed at 20th and Chestnut but will resurface Friday in the Academy House. [Meal Ticket]

Q BBQ & Tequila is launching their Quick and Gourmet burger menus in a few days, Meal Ticket has the menu plus some tasty looking photos. [Meal Ticket]

Georges Perrier and Nicholas Elmi will be cooking at the James Beard House on February 24th, it’ll be Elmi’s first experience at the JBH. [The Insider]

Speaking of the James Beard House, Meal Ticket has the menu that Meme’s David Katz will be preparing for his March 23rd dinner in New York. If you make reservations and say “thyme” you are entitled to a discount. [Meal Ticket]

For the gossip fodder, AD Amorosi drops word that Stephen Starr’s director of development got the grand tour of the Piazza at Schmidt’s this week. [City Paper]

How Much For One Rib?

Philadelphia Fish & Co. is making way for Q BBQ & Tequila and Meal Ticket has the menu, complete with the price for one rib. 

 

We’re also intrigued to try the street food tacos, BIGASS Burger and even a couple of the tasty sounding vegetarian choices.

Bart Blatstein’s Piazza project will be bringing several new spots to Northern Liberties. There’s a diner named Darling’s, a wine bar named Vino Restaurant Lounge, and as yet an unnamed pub and a lounge. [The Insider]
