My Post-Restaurant Impossible Dinner at Ridley’s Italian Village

On Wednesday night, The Food Network premiered its latest episode of Restaurant Impossible, in which muscle-head chef/host Robert Irvine (far right) paid a visit to Italian Village–an aging red gravy joint in Ridley Township (Milmont Park), Delaware County, that had fallen on hard times. In the opening minutes of the show, embattled co-owner Robert Mellon (second from right), who purchased the restaurant with his brother (far left) 20 years ago, revealed to Irvine that Italian Village was $500,000 in the hole and losing $5,000 each week. Irvine sampled ten dishes from the vast, 180-item menu, deeming the food as bleh as the decor of the restaurant itself. He grimaced at the escarole soup, which he likened to dishwater. What To Do At The Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival

Some of the biggest star power to ever converge on New Jersey will distinguish this year’s Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival from those past and elsewhere. The festivities began last night and will run through Sunday, featuring some of  the country’s most recognized food celebs as hosts, judges and chefs at more than 40 wine and beer tastings, cook-offs, grand markets,  book signings, cooking seminars and plain old meals.

And then of course, there’s Meat Loaf–performing tonight at the House of Blues. Appropriate, no?

Here are a few of the (other) most notable food persons converging on A.C. this weekend.
