Bring Your Own Vinyl For the Kids

Posted by Aubrey Nagle on July 31st, 2012

Deva Watson, a server at Pub & Kitchen has recently been hired to teach art at a charter school in Southwest Philadelphia. Unfortunately her classroom needs some help, so Deva has signed on the sustainable company Greensaw Design and Build to create a new classroom pro bono. But after losing state funding for the initial costs, Deva has to find a new way to raise the money, all while working 80 hour weeks between teaching and serving to cover art supply costs.

Enter Pub & Kitchen owner Ed Hackett. He has offered to hold one of P&K’s Bring Your Own Vinyl nights with all proceeds benefitting the build of Deva’s classroom. For the fundraiser, which is on Monday, August 6th at 9 p.m , Sixpoint Brewery has been nice enough to donate a keg of P&K Pale Ale. Those beers will be $3 and Heaven Hill shots will be $5. So drink up, it’s for the kids!

In the meantime, check out Deva’s project and donate to her at http://www.indiegogo.com/mydivingbell.

Included among the brews will be Sixpoint’s core beers like Sweet Action, Crisp and Bengali Tiger but also many beers that usually don’t make it down to Philadelphia including the brewery’s Mad Scientist series, single hop varietals and experimental Enterprise beers.

Pub & Kitchen Adds Fat Mermaid to New Menu

Posted by Foobooz on February 22nd, 2012

Pub & Kitchen’s chef Jonathan Adams sent out a nice note yesterday, kind of giving a state of the bar for the popular Graduate Hospital bar and restaurant. With the note he included a new menu that “showcases food that is approachable and familiar but with a signature touch. With it, we’ve added the kind of food that WE want to eat when we go out.”

If you’re a regular visitor to Pub & Kitchen you know things are always changing. The bar recently replaced its Middleton Ale with a specially brewed Sixpoint Pale Ale that pairs especially well with the Churchill Burger and its little brother, the Parliament burger.

We’re looking for someone to split the Fat Mermaid Seafood platter (pictured above) with us.This feast includes, 8 oysters, 8 littleneck clams, 8 poached mussels and 4 prawn cocktail, marinated lump crab salad and Maine sea urchin.
