Among the offerings:

Seasonal gelato flavors, cider, and now soup. The end of summer doesn’t mean the end of Capogiro trips.

Seinfeld‘s famous Soup Nazi not only has a food truck but it is going on tour. Better still, the Soup Nazi himself Larry Thomas is touring along with it and they are stopping in Philly.
Today the Soup Nazi truck will be stopping at 1555 Hamilton Street (at Hamilton and 16th) in front of the CBS3 and The CW studios from noon to 1 p.m. The menu includes mulligatawny soup, Junior Mints, muffin tops, black and white cookies, Snapple, and Twix – all inspired by the TV series and all for free.
For Larry Thomas’s sake let’s hope he gets paid every time he has to say “No soup for you!”

Since opening on 18th St. Brodo has expanded its hours to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to cover breakfast, lunch, and early dinner. New cold soups are also being offered to beat the summer heat and selections are updated on a daily basis on Brodo’s website.
Today’s menu includes a cold Watermelon Habenero soup (sounds refreshing, right?) as well as a classic gazpacho (pictured above) and a Shrimp & Mango cold soup. Even more cold and hot soups are available too.
As an added nicety during the recent and upcoming heat waves Brodo is handing out a free La Colombe iced coffee or a Boylan’s fountain soda with the purchase of any full sandwich or salad after 3:30pm. Looks like we have a new late lunch spot.

Brodo has opened on the now booming lunchtime strip of 18th Street (HipCityVedge, Crisp, Nom Nom Ramen). Brodo offers soups, salads and sandwiches and we were there for a soup and salad combination this afternoon.
We had the Harvest salad with romaine, diced chicken, crumbled blue cheese, glazed walnuts, craisins, red and green apple and a honey Dijon mustard dressing. The salad had excellent balance with plenty of each ingredient to last right to the last bite. We’re already plotting what else to try this week. We tested out the chicken noodle soup as well, finding it several notches above your normal lunchtime soup, it was truly a broth and not just hot water with some seasoning.

Help Wanted signs are up in the windows at 31 S 18th Street, home of a former Naked Chocolate Cafe. Brodo promises to be a new fast-casual lunch spot offering “inspired” soups, salads and sandwiches.
Soup will be the star of the show with ten different soups featured daily. Competition will be tough with the established Saladworks next door, and Morris’ in the same building.
