First some Rioja, and now some cider.
Tinto’s second installment of their monthly pairing dinners is welcoming in the world of European cider. Every year in the Basque country, cider houses tap their cider barrels, and the people gather together, drinking the apple wine straight from those barrels. It’s called the “txotx,” and Tinto wants to join in on the celebrations.
On Thursday, April 4th, at 7pm, sidra (cider) will be poured from three regions in Spain and France, from Asturias to Irouleguy, and their accompanying menu looks stellar.
The dinner will only set you back $50 a person, and as is tradition, the ciders are bottomless. Make your reservation soon.

Beginning this weekend Marigold Kitchen is doing away with a la carte ordering. From now on you can create your own tasting menus of 4, 5 or 6 courses (plus the parade of amuse bouches). The price starts at $65 per person and goes up from there. Prix fixe has been the way to go at Marigold anyway, but now it’s the only way. We’re just glad they didn’t heed Philadelphia magazine’s note that if Marigold were in New York, it would easily be $150 per head.

While Chef Joe Cicala hosts his 40-course La Panarda dinner, just down the street, the already highly-lauded Chef Christopher Kearse of Will BYOB, and Rob Sidor will be teaming up to host their own feast of gargantuan proportions. Although the regular menu is designed in a way that you can “create your own tasting menu”, the six-course option will feature seasonally inspired ingredients and dishes. There are few places in the country that take beer as seriously as we do here in Philly—one of them being Colorado. The aptly named “Napa Valley of beer” gained recognition as one of the nation’s premier craft beer states, ranking first in the nation in beer production per capita, and second in amount of breweries with just over 135 statewide.
And since Philadelphians love anything beer, Barbuzzo has decided to bring us a little love from Colorado. This Wednesday, November 14th, they’ll be hosting a Colorado Beer Dinner complete with five courses including beer pairings for only $55.
