Southwark Is Hosting a Tired Hands Beer Dinner

Posted by Foobooz on April 16th, 2013

tiredhandslogoFor this month’s producers dinner at Southwark, chef Nick Macri is welcoming Tired Hands Brewing. The dinner takes place tomorrow, April 17th at 7 p.m. and for $45 you can try four courses of Macri’s food paired with beer from the Ardmore brew pub.

On Thursday night, Southwark will be tapping Ommegang Hennepin in the run up to Hop Chef. Macri will be rolling out a special sausage from 10 p.m. to midnight (Southwark serves food nightly to midnight), but Hop Chef competitors looking for the inside scoop, Macri assures us this won’t be his Hop Chef dish.

Tired Hands Hosting an R5 Bar Crawl This Saturday

Posted by Foobooz on October 18th, 2012

Jean Broilet from Tired Hands Brewery has brewed a beer he’s calling R5 Saison. And in honor of the beer he’s having a bar crawl along SEPTA’s R5 line this this Saturday, October 20th. The beer includes five ingredients that begin with the letter “R” (Rye, ramon nut, roses, rhubarb and raisins). Each bar will have a customized version of the beer so it’ll be worth trying the beer at all four bars on the bar crawl.

The fun kicks off at Station Taproom in Downingtown at noon, runs down the R5 and finishes at Monk’s Cafe.

Brewers Bouncing

Posted by Foobooz on June 19th, 2012

Since the end of Beer Week we’ve seen several brewers head off to new jobs, local and out-of-town. Nodding Head assistant brewer Mike Fava is leaving the Sansom Street brew pub and is heading to Oxbow Brewing Company in Newcastle, Maine. [Seen Through a Glass]

Terry Hawbaker, the well respected brewer from Farmers’ Cabinet’s Cabinet Artisanal Brewhouse has moved on. Hawbaker will now be brewing for [Seen Through a Glass]

In a local move, Jon Defibaugh is moving from Earth Bread + Brewery in Mount Airy to Tired Hands Brewing in Ardmore. Defibaugh had been at EB+B since it opened three and a half years ago. Defibaugh’s departure will mean Earth owner Tom Baker will be the lead brewer. [Tired Hands]

Speaking of Tired Hands Brewing, Bruno from Brouwerij t’Gaverhopke in Belgium will be on hand today after 4 p.m. The Belgian brewer is brewing a collaboration at Tired Hands this morning and will be around for a meet-and-greet this afternoon starting at 4 p.m. He is also likely to have some of his own beers in tow. It’s a Brewery Bonanza

Posted by Foobooz on August 5th, 2011

The one asterisk in Philadelphia’s claim of being America’s Best Beer Drinking City is the relative scarcity of brewpubs and breweries in the area. But it seems that is a changing with planned breweries and brew pubs from Cape May to Harrisburg. We look forward to checking out all these new beers from nanobreweries to brew pubs to big production breweries.
