This Friday, May 17th will be the last day for Univesity City’s Tria Wine Room. The little sibbling of Center City’s Tria locations opened in October, 2010 as Biba and has developed a number of loyal guests, but “that number is too small to make Tria Wine Room a viable business.” We always enjoyed the intimate space and the splendid deck.
As a way to say goodbye, Tria Wine room is extending its Off the Beaten Vine Happy Hour an additional hour. Enjoy excellent and unusual wines tonight through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. for just $5.
Tria will be expanding back to three this summer with Tria Taproom, Tria’s take on beer, pizza and of course wine. That project is under construction at 2005 Walnut Street, the former home of Rum Bar.

The original Tria location at 18th and Sansom turns nine years old today. So as you might guess, the Rittenhouse wine bar is celebrating. And when a wine bar celebrates, that means Champagne. All day today Tria will be offering Thierry Triolet Champagne from opening to close for just $9 per glass.
So stop in and a glass or three and toast Tria on their first nine years.

Adultery web site, Ashley Madison has released the ten most popular restaurants for cheating couples in Philadelphia. Barclay Prime came in at number one, number ten was Ruby Tuesday. Smack in the middle is Tria, which we’re sure was referred to as “the other Tria” by everyone polled.

This morning we spotted our second favorite shade of orange in the window of the former Rum Bar on Walnut Street. The liquor license application is registered to William Alexander Corp. and an Internet search revealed Tria’s Jonathan Myerow as one of the names on the liquor license.
Myerow tells us he’s opening Tria Taproom at the former Rum Bar. The concept will be pizza and beer. Other than that he’s being tight-lipped, won’t even tell us what kind of pizza oven he’s installing. And though it seems everyone is doing pizza right now, Myerow promises his will be a bit different.
Tria Taproom is aiming for a summer opening. That pizza oven may be in April, so stay tuned.

We’re not really sure why everyone decided today was the day to pour some great beer but we’re not complaining. Tria Rittenhouse and Tria Washington Square West are pouring Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA today at 4 p.m. The Delaware brewery’s 120 Minute IPA is an extreme beer, weighing in at 18% alcohol by volume. Tria will be offering the beer for $5 a five-ounce glass, limit two per customer.

How do you keep from letting rainy Mondays get you down? You head to Tria’s Spruce Street location where they’re tapping beers from two of their favorite breweries. Dogfish Head’s Bitches Brew returns. It’s three parts Imperial Stout and one part African honey beer with gesho root, and commemorate the Miles Davis’s fusion jazz album of the same name.
Tria is also tapping a rare keg of Russian River Temptation. Temptation is a strong golden ale aged in French Chardonnay casks with wild yeasts and makes beer dorks squeal.
It all starts at 4 p.m. Dogfish Head Bitches Brew is $8 for a 10 ounce draft and Russian River Temptation is $8.50 for a 10 ounce draft.
