It’s Down to the Wire for Valentine’s Gifts Ideas

Posted by Foobooz on February 14th, 2013

last-minute-valentine

Judging by the Twitter questions I’ve been answering this morning, not everyone has squared away Valentine’s plans. Check out our Valentine’s Guide for last second suggestions or try this suggestion on for size.

Head down to Verde on 13th Street, and pick up the Barbuzzo Budino for two pack for $15. Then cross 13th Street and grab a bouquet of flowers from Spike’s Greens flower shop pop-up in Duross and Langel. Add some Yards Philly Pale Ale soap and you’ll go from Valentine’s Day zero to hero.

Weekend:

Posted by Foobooz on February 8th, 2013

Friday

Look at paintings of cheese while you eat cheese. Wedge & Fig is hosting the cheese works of artists Mike Geno all month.

It might begin to look like a winter wonderland during Belgian Cafe’s Winter Wonderland Event with Matt of Shangys & Brendan of B.United. Great beers are sure to be on tap.

Celebrate Chifa’s fourth anniversary with a special tasting menu.

Saturday

Cherries, chocolate and flowers are all part of Nodding Head Brewery’s liquid love letter.

Do something romantic, like tour a graveyard and eat some pizza.

Still basking in the Ravens Super Bowl win? Head to the Institute for Du Claw Brewing & Maryland crab legs.

Sunday

It’s the battle of the brewers as six local breweries are putting together bands to battle it out on stage and it is all for charity.

Opa celebrates turning two with a special $2 anniversary menu.

Enjoy Winter’s Warmers, chili and holiday ales at the Crane Arts Building. Chili cook-off and home brews for $15.

If you are looking for chili but are out near Victory Brewing in Downingtown, stop in for their Chili challenge.

Valentine Date Idea: Love Stories and Pizza

Posted by Foobooz on February 7th, 2013

This Saturday, February 9th at 1 p.m. Laurel Hill Cemetary is hosting Til Death Do Us Part: The Love Stories of Laurel Hill, a walking tour inspired by a tory of a woman whose heart, and only her heart is buried in the cemetery. After hearing her and other love stories of the cemetery, head inside for a toasty fireside reception with wine, hot chocolate and hors d’oeuvres. The tour is a very reasonable $20, $18 for students and seniors.

Don’t fill up too completely, because next up is dinner at nearby In Riva. Cozy up and share some of the best pizza around and if there’s anything featuring buratta, order it. Chef Arthur Cavaliere offers our favorite version of that cheesy goodness around.

For more Valentine date ideas, check out the Foobooz Guide to Valentine’s Day.

11th Hour Update From Cook: Valentine’s Day With Jen Carroll

Posted by Jason Sheehan on January 6th, 2012

Even as the final February schedule was being posted online at Cook today, they had one class they were still trying to put together: “A Valentine’s Day To Remember” starring none other than hometown hero (and Top Chef shit-starter) Jen Carroll.

According to Cook, “Jen will be preparing a romantic and delicious multi-course menu for you and that special someone.” And as of right-this-minute, there are still nine tickets left to the February 14th class. So if you (or someone you like a lot, because the class ain’t cheap) are interested, I’d get over there in a hurry and register now.
