2013 Varga Girl Calendar Release Party

Posted by Alex Tewfik on December 11th, 2012

Golden oldies icon Neil Sedaka spent much of his career sharing his sentiments with the world in the form of song and prose—and he was beloved because people could relate. When “Calendar Girl” hit #4 on the US Billboard Chart in 1961, it was clear that it was an anthem of which most of America could identify with, as it was a tune regarding the unavoidable affinity for the calendar girls.

Varga Bar is keeping the tradition alive this Wednesday with their annual Varga Girl Calendar Release Party. Starting at 9pm, poster-sized prints of each 2013 Varga Girl will adorn the walls, calendars will be sold for $20, and the girls will be there—for a meet and greet of sorts. 25% of all of the proceeds benefit the Liberty USO—the PA/NJ chapter. And as expected, there will, of course, be food and drink specials.

Turkey Fry at Varga Bar

Posted by Foobooz on November 30th, 2012

Usually a Sunday with an Eagles versus Cowboys game is a big deal. But  not this Sunday, this Sunday it’s a dud. And Chef Evan Turney is marking the turkey of a game at Varga Bar by frying turkeys outside of Varga Bar.

The turkeys will be served with a choice of two sides: roasted garlic mashed potatoes, sweet yams, pecan leek and sausage stuffing with sage, sauteed kale, and orange cranberry chutney. Each plate comes with mushroom gravy, and costs $30 per person. The turkeys will be run from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and there will also be whiskey and beer specials throughout the day.

Suckling Pig Roast at Varga Tomorrow

Posted by Alex Tewfik on October 26th, 2012

There are few things spookier than a baby pig, lifelessly ablaze, slowly rotating on a spit, charred flesh — and there are fewer things as delicious. This Saturday, Varga Bar is throwing an outdoor pig roast. Chef Evan Turney will be outside, roasting some suckling pig, while guests can enjoy the meat and two sides for $35. Sides include sweet yams, orange, cranberry, and apple chutney, pecan-leek and sausage stuffing with cranberry and sage, and sauteed black kale.

Casey Hughes, of Flying Fish Brewery, will be there celebrating his birthday and Varga will be tapping Flying Fish Oktoberfish, Hopfish, Exit 16 & 4, plus more.

RSVPs can be made now by calling (215) 627-5200, but walk-ins are just as welcome.
