The 8th annual Great Chefs Event, benefitting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Vetri Foundation for Children will be held June 11, 2013 at Urban Outfitters headquarters at the Navy Yard.
As always, the list of participating chefs is a who’s who of American chefdom. The event isn’t cheap with general admission tickets going for $350. But it is for a good cause and you can start saving now.
Tired of Stuart Scott catch phrases? Then Johnny Goodtimes’ food related puns will be a relief. Check out the Foobooz TV recap of the Thanksgiving football game between Team Garces and Team Vetri.
It is three wins in a row for Team Vetri as the squad defeated Team Garces 25-21 at Franklin Field in the fourth annual flag football game between the two restaurant groups. It was an intense game through the final snap. And all for a good cause with $5,000 going to the Vetri Foundation for Children.
Thanksgiving football games have long been a tradition of local high schools but this Thursday morning will be the latest chapter in another rivalry. Employees of Jose Garces and Marc Vetri will be squaring off on Thanksgiving morning at Franklin Field. The game is in its fourth year with Vetri’s squad ahead two games to one.
More than just bragging rights are at stake as the winning side receives a $5,000 to its foundation. The game kicks off at 9 a.m. and Foobooz will be there with live coverage. See you there or online.
We want our children to learn, to be social and to be productive. We buy them books and teach them to read and write. Yet, when it comes to feeding them the energy that is necessary to make their minds and bodies function better, we put them in a line, give them a tray and slop unrecognizable food onto it. If we did not put gasoline in a car would it run? If we did not plug in a computer would it work? Then why do we expect our children to grow, be productive and flourish without the right energy going inside of them?
This is just another step in Vetri’s determined campaign to overhaul school lunches. Back in 2009 Vetri, along with help from Jeff Michaud and Jeff Benjamin, started the “Eatiquette” program and their mission was simple: to bring family-style eating –all the social interaction and comfort included – to school lunches. The “Eatiquette” program has been successful in multiple region schools and camps and the Vetri Foundation continues to support it.
Tickets for Marc Vetri’s seventh annual Great Chefs Event are now on sale. The can’t miss culinary event of the year is Tuesday, June 12th at Urban Outfitters Headquarters in the Navy Yard.
The $300 ticket gets you three hours of signature dishes from some of the best chefs across North America plus an open bar. Proceeds benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the Vetri Foundation for Children.
