The Surf and Turf for Two is $99.99 and includes salad, dessert, and a two and a half pound lobster plus a six-ounce New York Strip Steak served with roasted beets, potato rosti, a fine herb butter sauce and a black truffle jus. The prix-fixe menu gives foodies a choice of Jumbo Lump Crab Risotto, an Arugula Salad with a citrus vinaigrette or Beet Soup with crème fraiche for the first course. The second course offerings include a Roasted Hanger Steak, Cod “Cioppini”, or Seared Trout with vegetable barigoule and a caper-lemon emulsion. Dessert choices are Homemade Cheesecake, Tiramisu, or a Cobbler of the Day. Three courses at just $30 is why McCrossen’s is so easy to love this Valentine’s Day. Highlights include Grilled Oysters with fennel and lemon zest as a starter. Mateo’s shareable Large Plates for the weekend are Grilled Whole Durade with barley risotto, citrus and tarragon; New York Strip Steak with grilled radicchio and pearl onions; and for vegetarian valentines Stuffed Napa Cabbage with truffled potatoes, Du Puy lentils and a raw vegetable vinaigrette. The perfect end to this meal is Mateo’s Sweet Endings, which include a Ricotta Cheese Cake with blood orange glaze and white chocolate; and a decadent Warm Chocolate Cake with lavender anglaise and blackberries. Nothing says romance more than one dessert and two forks with this meant-to-be shared menu.
