Jonathan Adams Leaving Pub & Kitchen

Posted by Foobooz on January 4th, 2013

Later this month Pub & Kitchen will be closing to undergo a renovation. Reopening in February, the old bones of Chaucer’s will have been spruced up again. Expect more taps, new restrooms and a renovated kitchen.

But what will not be in that kitchen is chef Jonathan Adams. Chef “Johnny Mac” is stepping down as executive chef to concentrate on his Rival Bros. Coffee roasting company.

The bar’s concept will remain the same, with Adams’ kitchen staff executing the menu.

As for what’s happening at the former Meme, read on.

Good. The food has been going downhill recently. I like p&k but if you get anything other than the burger, it’s disappointing. I had the Skate Wing recently and it tasted like it was soaked in grease. Also recently went for brunch and the only breakfast food was crab cake eggs benedict. The eggs were overcooked — no runny yoke like it ought to be on eggs benedict; crab tasted like crap — no sweetness to the meat; Hollandaise sauce was bland.

      Also, the bathrooms reek.

So, who will be taking the reins? No executive chef and evidently no sous chef with Rob Marzinsky running the kitchen at the old Meme spot.

Nooooooooo! So sorry to hear this news. All the best, Johnny Mac!

@Mike B, you should probably learn to spell “yolk” before offering your amateur opinions. Just a thought.
