Revel Rolls Out Three From Chef Michel Richard

The so-new-it-ain’t-even-open-yet Revel resort and casino in Atlantic City is certainly not being shy in building up its restaurant arm. The developers appear to be on some kind of obsessive buying spree–bringing in crazy-good and nationally-known chefs from all over the country and offering them spaces at the new property. Thus far we have reported that Alain Allegretti will be in the house (with his Azure by Allegretti), as will Stefano Chiaruga (Lugo Caffe), Robert Wiedmaier (Mussel Bar), Marc Forgione (American Cut) and Jose Garces (with versions of Amada, Village Whiskey and Distrito).

And now, it has just been announced that chef Michel Richard will be hitting the beach with three concepts of his own: O Bistro and Wine Bar, The Breakfast Room and an A.C. outlet of his award-winning Central Michel Richard.

The Breakfast Room will be exactly what it sounds like: A place for breakfast, both a la carte and grab-and-go. O Bistro will be a “playful” oceanside spot with small plates, sliders, crab cakes, potato chip nachos and chicken wings, complimented by “trendy cocktails and liquid desserts” from the bar. The kitchen will go big on dishes like brandade of crab and skate meuniere, but still operate as Richard’s casual spot by balancing those plates against fish tacos and specialty burgers.

Central Michel Richard? That’s a bit more serious. The Revel location will be the third for chef Richard’s “modern bistro,” offering French-inflected American cuisine (gougeres, lobster burgers, 72-hour short rib), and a wine list with a similar slant. And for those of you who think that Richard’s name sounds a little bit familiar, you’re right. In the 80’s and 90’s, he had outposts of both his Citrus and Citronelle brands in Philadelphia.

So this makes 10 of the 12 (or possibly 14) Revel restaurant spaces occupied. Word is that we’ll get the name of the final occupants by the end of the week.

Oh, and for one more bit of news? Revel is also announcing its opening dates. This, straight from the PR machine:

Revel will begin welcoming guests April 2 for an eight-week preview featuring 1,800 guest rooms and a progressive schedule of select restaurant openings, gaming, performance spaces, spa, daylife and nightlife amenities.  The complete resort experience will premiere on May 25, the kickoff of Memorial Day weekend.  Reservations will open for both the smoke-free resort’s preview and premiere on March 5 at revelresorts.com
